VP Engineering – Fintech (B2B)

Location: Europe - Flexible/Remote (German-speaking required)

We are seeking a strategic VP of Engineering to join a Fintech B2B business to lead the engineering department into 2025 and beyond. This is a pivotal role in a fintech company operating in the B2B space, focused on creating a long-lasting impact in the taxation and accounting domain.
This role offers a great opportunity to apply expertise in technology architecture and strategic initiatives at a high level, while driving meaningful change within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and long-term technology vision.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team of 30, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Work closely with Go-To-Market teams, Product, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and shared priorities.
  • Ensure all engineering decisions comply with fintech, tax, and accounting regulatory standards.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, regulations, and compliance requirements, integrating them into the engineering roadmap.
  • Tackle complex technical and organizational challenges, promoting a problem-solving mindset across the team.
  • Report directly to the CTO, contributing to high-level strategic decision-making.
     
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a strategic engineering leadership role, ideally within a fast-scaling environment.
  • Background in Fintech, Tax, Compliance, or Accounting, with a strong understanding of industry-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Fluent or highly proficient in German and English.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • A passion for problem-solving and aligning engineering goals with broader business objectives.
  • Strong technical background and proficient in AWS, React, typescript and PHP.
Compensation
  • Competitive base salary (€125,000 - €160,000, depending on experience).
  • Company bonus structure.
