Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain the company's foundational data infrastructure on Azure.
- Develop scalable, reliable, and efficient data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage.
- Optimise SQL databases and other data storage solutions, ensuring performance and accessibility.
- Integrate data sources from various internal systems and external platforms into a unified architecture.
- Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance in line with industry standards.
- Support and enhance real-time and batch data processing capabilities.
- Work closely with data scientists and engineers to enable self-service data access and improve analytics capabilities.
- Evaluate and implement cloud-native Azure services, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and Cosmos DB.
- Automate data operations and workflows using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Bicep.
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or cloud-based data solutions.
- Expertise in Azure cloud services, including Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and Blob Storage.
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL) and experience optimising large-scale data storage solutions.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ETL pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) for managing cloud resources.
- Familiarity with big data processing frameworks (Spark, Delta Lake, or similar).
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in AI-driven or data-intensive environments.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, MongoDB).
- Familiarity with real-time data streaming (Kafka, Event Hubs).
- Experience integrating machine learning models into data pipelines.
- Azure Certifications (e.g., DP-203: Azure Data Engineer Associate).
