To celebrate Pride Month, we are interviewing some of our incredible Thought Leaders here at SODA. Meet Emre Celik, EMEA Employee Relations and Investigations Partner at Google. We were keen to find out what Pride means to Emre, as well as their background and career achievements.
Where did you study and what got you into tech?
I have studied at the FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management in business law with a focus on labour law, as well as a Master of Science with a focus on workplace investigations.
What have been your biggest achievements to date?
I come from a low-income family, and now, I am being approached by the biggest companies in the world, as well as receiving several awards last year (Face of the Future from Business Punk, Google Engagement Award and LinkedIn Top Voice 2022!).
How would you describe Pride?
Pride is hope. It is the belief that we can achieve anything we set our minds to. It is the belief that we are not alone, and that there are others who share our experiences and our struggles. It is the belief that we can make a difference in the world. When I am proud of who I am and what I have accomplished, it gives me the strength to keep going, even when things are tough. It reminds me that I am capable of great things, and that I have a place in this world. Pride is not about being better than others; it is about being the best version of ourselves. It is about celebrating our differences and finding strength in our shared humanity. So, let us all be proud of who we are, and what we have accomplished. Let us use our pride to fuel our hope, and to make the world a better place!
